Green Tench, or Doctor Fish, are found in many areas of Europe and northern Asia, where they inhabit slow moving rivers and lakes.Golden tench have been developed for pond keepers, a variety which was selectively bred in central Europe.
Tench are a relatively shy fish, and will prefer plenty of planting to hide amongst. They prefer to be kept in a shoal and may accept floating food, but because they are timid may have to be fed sinking.
