The Barbel, a fish from within the same family as carp, is native throughout Europe and parts of Asia. They are a popular sport fish in the UK.
Barbels are a shy, bottom feeding fish and should be fed sinking foods. They require well aerated water and a fairly large pond in which to shoal.
