DIY SOS - The Big Build! 2013

21st Nov 2019

DIY SOS Team

Friday 27th September was a very exciting day, we sent a representative for Bradshaws to Little Miracles, which is a parent led support group and Charity for families with children that have additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions.

DIY SOS, on BBC 1, had decided to take on the project of rebuilding the rooms that the Charity uses for the children to learn and grow in; also the gardens they play in have been completely re-done.

We participated in the project as we had donated Liner and underlay to help with the rebuild of the garden.

Sensory GardenGroup of Volunteers

The team transformed it from a barren wasteland into a beautiful Sensory Garden designed by Chris Beardshaw. It included everything from a willow-weaved hideout, a sand pit, a ramp leading up in the trees so that some of the children who never before been able to climb into the treetops can experience the wonder of looking through the branches onto the ground below. Our liner is for a pond in the garden which will be built in February 2014.

Meeting Chris Beardshaw

One of our team got to go down to the site and was there when all the children lined up to say thank you to everyone. They got to meet the DIY SOS team and Chris Beardshaw!

The show is aired tonight Wednesday 13th November, on BBC1 at 8pm, watch is and see if you can spot our Bradshaws team member in our t-shirt logo.
