Why should I get one? Are they better than other kinds of ponds?
Raised ponds are certainly a different proposition compared to more typical excavated ponds, and we think that they’re definitely worthy of consideration from any prospective pond owner. Some of their unique advantages include:
- As the ponds are raised, they are safer for children and pets – a key consideration for many of our customers.
- Unlike in-ground ponds, which can be more difficult to work with, a raised pond takes significantly less maintenance, giving you more spare time to enjoy your surroundings.
- Easy to assemble, disassemble and install – you’ll be on your way in no time with a raised pond! There is also significantly less need to worry about excavation, which is particularly handy if doing so is impractical.
Raised ponds are worth considering in many situations, and especially so if safety is important.
Why make them out of wood?
The majority of our raised ponds are made out of wood, which is a very popular choice – we’ve outlined the main reasons why this is below:
- Great to look at - due to its rustic appearance, wood is a highly desirable raised pond material, and it’s sure to make your pond a focal talking point.
- They’re more environmentally friendly – as an all-natural material that is easy to dispose of in an ethical manner, wood is better for the planet than some alternatives. Wood is also a reliable material to work with, and is able to easily cope with water pressure if it has been sealed correctly.
- Cost – depending of course on factors like the grade of wood and its provenance, wood can be cheaper than some other material types.
