Description: A floating plant which is anchored by its submerged stem. Fine, feathery leaves grow below the water's surface, while the floating leaves are fan-shaped with a serrated edge. The plant produces small, white, four petled flowers, which give way to a large, spined nut.

Other Common Names: Water Caltrop, Buffalo Nut, Bat Nut, Devil Pod, Bull Nut, Water Nut.

Planting Zone: 5.

Origin: Europe and Asia.

Flowers: June - July.
