Pond Expert Advice One: Pumps
Choosing a pond pump can be confusing and this is why we suggest that you always contact a Bradshaws pondxpert if you're not sure. For most garden ponds you will need a submersible (completely in the water) pump even if you have a waterfall, filter or fountain. PondExpert Advice Two: Filters
Pond filters are used to maintain a healthy pond and are useful in ponds that have a large population of fish, because they keeps ponds clear of algae and debris which keeps the water clear and the fish healthy. Which filter you choose should be based on the size of your pond, the number and type of fish and the area where your filter will go. PondXpert Advice Three: UVCs
One problem that all pond experts will tell you about is algae. Lots of algae makes your pond look green and can lead to problems with fish health. The best way to deal with it is to fit a UVC to your pond filtration system. Water containing the suspended algae is pumped Ultra Violet (UVC) light. The algae are then clumped together by the UV light, and removed by the filter. Pond Expert Advice Four: Skimmers
One thing that PondXperts will warn you of during autumn especially, is leaves and debris on your pond. A pond skimmer will solve this problem, by grabbing leaves and other debris from the surface of your pond to keep it looking clean.
