Velda Silenta Outdoor Oxygenator Air Pump Information

The Velda Silenta Outdoor Oxygenator Air Pump has superseded and replaced the Velda Silenta Pro Oxygenator Air Pump, however the information here is relevant to both the older and newer versions of this range.

Built to be solid and reliable for all weather conditions, the Silenta has a real rugged and professional feel, that will last for years! All models in the Silenta Air Pump range come with 9mm air tubing and giant air stones, which can be purchased separately if you need more. The 1200, 1800 and 3600 models come with 1 giant airstone and the 2 larger models come with 2.

With it's robust and durable metal casing the Silenta might look like it would be a noisy unit, however the total opposite in in fact the case, and this oxygenator is one of the quitest on the market - especially for the output that it generates. The quiet running is thanks to the diaphragm design that velda have developed for these air pumps.

The 1200 to 1800 models will work to a depth of 1.5 metres, while the 2 larger models will work up to 2.5 metres (that's just over 8ft). That basically means that there really isn't going to be a domestic pond that will be too big for these air pumps! They are designed as an air pump to be used on a pond, but can also be transferred to be used within an aquarium for those of you with a larger than normal aquarium. With it's metal outer casing the Silenta is probably one of the toughest you'll find, and will endure pretty much anything the weather can throw at it!

Velda Silenta Outdoor Oxygenator Information 1

If you have been experiencing problems wtih your Silenta Air Pump, 9 times out of 10 this is going to be a diaphragm problem, they may have slipped, torn or become worn over time. The diaphragms are easy to change and can be purchased as a spare, so if you need to order a new set please just give us a call. The Silenta air Pump models are all very similar and by following these pictures you should be able to change the diaphragms without too much of a problem. In the left hand picture you will see a representation of the diaphragm kit that you will recieve. This comes with the diaphragm cases at the top of the picture, the two rubber diaphragms and the foam air filter (this stops any dust getting into the motor). Shown above right is the pump, you can see the four phillips head screws, one in each corner, removing these will allow access to the motor and the diaphragms.

Once inside the Silenta Pro air Pump, on either side you will be able to see the diaphragm housing. These are secured into place by four screws. They are all phillips head, and removing them will give you access to the diaphragms. You will probably find that the housing is still in a good condition, if not these can be changed by removing the black air flow tubing and re-attaching to a new housing. Once all the screws are removed you will be able to see the diaphragm and its holding locking nut as below.

To remove the diaphragm from the Silenta, you will need some long nose pliers. You'll notice that there is a red wax seal on the nut that is holding everything together. Peel this away with the pliers and then unscrew the nut. Make sure you keep all the parts the same way as they came out (this makes it easier to reassemble). You can now install a new diaphragm and repeat the process to fit the air pump back together again. To clean out the air filter (this is always on top of the Silenta air Pump) just remove the protective cover, take out the foam, rinse and then dry and replace.
